Advertisement or .... ?

ဒီမနက္ Herald Tribune ကေန သတင္းတစ္ပုဒ္ ဖတ္လိုက္ရတယ္။ ျမန္မာတိုင္းမ္စ္ English version က tourism promoting ေၾကာ္ျငာတစ္ခုမွာ ထည့္ထားတဲ့ hidden message နဲ႔ ပတ္သက္လို႔ပါ။

The ad, published in Myanmar's commercial capital Yangon, looked like an innocent call for tourists visiting Myanmar from Scandinavia, with the drawing of a palm tree and sun, and text praising Myanmar's "beautiful country and friendly people."

At the bottom of the half-page ad was "The Board of Islandic Travel Agencies Ewhsnahtrellik and the Danish Industry BesoegDanmark," including the long Danish-looking word "Ewhsnahtrellik." When read backward it said, "killer than shwE."

Surrend ad in Myanmar Times

Surrend has placed an ad in the state-run weekly burmese newspaper Myanmar Times. The ad which looks as if it is promoting tourism in Burma for Scandinavian had a hidden messages to the burmese junta. The first letter in each of the words in the poem spells the word "freedom" and the name of the Board of Islandic Travels Agencies is "Killer Than Shwe" spelled backwards. Surrend placed the ad because of the brutal regimes repression of freedom of speech.
